Where is J & L Storage located?

Our property address is 5675 Old Porter Rd, Portage, Indiana 46368. We’re just off US Route 20, allowing us to serve the communities of Portage, Chesterton, Gary, Lake Station, Schererville, Valparaiso, Griffith, and Crown Point, Indiana.

What units are available?

Our current available units are listed on our Rent Now page. If the unit of your liking is not available, you can fill out our Waitlist Form to be in line for your desired unit and upon vacancy, you will be notified.

Do you offer 24-hour access?

We sure do! Our tenants get access to their storage units 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Is this an unmanned facility?

Yes, our storage facility is unmanned and offers very easy drive-up access. You can complete your move-in process by Contacting Us directly to set up swapping to your personal lock. Management lives just minutes away, and can usually show up at a moments notice in emergency.

What is drive-up access?

Drive-up access is a useful feature that allows our tenants to drive out here and park their vehicle right next to their rental.

What type of security do you offer?

Our property is fenced and will be gated in the future. We offer a variety of secure storage units and we’re located on a highly visible business street, and our property has 24/7 video surveillance.

Do you offer vehicle storage?

Yes, we have plenty of indoor storage units just waiting for your vehicle. Whether you own a car, boat, or RV, our storage spaces will allow you to explore Northwest Indiana knowing that your vehicle will be safe afterward.
If you intend to store a vehicle or watercraft in the storage unit, we may request documentation of title, registration and insurance, and any lienholder information.

Do you offer utilities?

We currently offer 2 units with NIPSCO, Furnace, and a Bathroom. Electric and Gas costs are paid for by renter, water costs are incurred by owner.
